Unveiling the IT Ministry’s Innovative Leap for E-Rozgar Centers

The Ministry of Information Technology and Telecommunication (MoITT) has decided to merge currently operational private IT co-working spaces into the e-Rozgar centers plan.

According to ProPakistani sources, this effort will transform more than a dozen private co-working spaces in Punjab into cutting-edge e-Rozgar facilities.

Here’s something else for you: IT exports climbed by 11% in November 2023.

According to MoITT sources, the project’s purpose is to greatly strengthen the country’s IT ecosystem. The ministry has already identified many private co-working spaces, especially in Punjab, that would be converted into e-Rozgar facilities right soon.

According to the sources, the concept comprises granting government incentives to co-working spaces in order for them to renovate their facilities and better suit the changing requirements of the digital age. The ministry has already submitted the PC-1 proposal for the e-Rozgar Centres initiative to the Public Sector Development Programme (PSDP) for approval. Dr. Umar Saif, Minister of Information Technology and Telecommunications, is set to establish Pakistan’s first e-Rozgar center.

According to ministry officials, the government aims to fund the building of these e-Rozgar centers with a 100 percent interest rate subsidy. Building owners will be able to obtain interest-free financing; Ignite will cover a substantial portion of the subsidies, with additional funding coming from the PSDP.

In an attempt to establish a model that is advantageous to all stakeholders, the government is offering infrastructure development loans to each e-Rozgar center up to 10 million rupees. Everyone from banks to freelancers to property owners will come out ahead with this plan.

Pakistan Software Export Board (PSEB) would be in charge of the e-Rozgar centers project. The PSEB has suggested allocating Rs. 1 billion to set up 250 e-Rozgar facilities, showing that the government is still dedicated to developing a robust digital infrastructure.
